Generally, custom coaters can offer services dismount and pre-prep services like de-greasing but it is always good to ask beforehand.
Some will either charge separately or include it in there pricing. f your coater doesn’t provide these services you will need to do the following prep before bringing your project in.
- Remove any excess grease and dirt; bring in a clean condition.
- Dismount the tires from all rims. DIY-ers usually have the know-how to do this but you can always drop by your local tire shop to get them dismounted. If you go this route, consider timing it with the replacement of your tires to save money on dismounting.
- All TPMS sensors and weights need to be removed.
- Remove the stems.
- If bearings are present they will have to be removed.

Important Notes:
- If powder coaters offer mount dismount services. If they don’t you can contact your local wheel shop for mounting/dismounting pricing. Ask about overnight storage availability. Make sure its a reputable business with a soft mount machine and secure location
- Expected turnaround time: one – two weeks on average.

- If your rims are cracked it may be too late. Most powder coating shops DO NOT offer welding services or warranty welds on rims as it is too much risk on them if the welds fail. Deep curb damage over 3/8″ may not be fully repairable.
